Have Got / Has Got
This is a basic grammar worksheet about the phrase “have got” which is mostly used in British English. Students will start with a quick refresher of the verb “have” in present simple (the structure of questions etc).
Next students will read about the structure of “have got” in simple sentences such as “I’ve got a nice house.” They will then complete several statements using both positive and negative structures.
Next students will read about “have got” questions, for example “have you got a pen?” Students will then complete several questions and then ask their partner these questions. They will then look at a series of people and ask their partner questions about their appearance (for example “has she got glasses?”)
Next the students will put open questions (why, who, how, what, when, and where questions) in order and ask each other the questions.
Finally students will complete a short dialogue using all the structures they have learned.
This worksheet teaches an often overlooked and very common part of British English, and will be useful for any A2 class looking for more dynamic English.
