Confusing Verbs

Confusing Verbs

This is a pre-intermediate worksheet about 6 commonly confused verbs. The worksheet looks at ‘tell’ vs ‘say’, ‘listen’ vs ‘hear’, and ‘make’ vs ‘do.’

For each set of verbs the worksheet gives a short description, and then asks the students to complete several exercises aimed at differentiating the two verbs. Then students will ask and answer conversation questions to help them practice these verbs.

The worksheet also indirectly contains plenty of past simple and present simple, so may be good for a class that has recently studied these subjects.

The final exercise asks students to combine everything they have learned to complete a dialogue.
