Countable vs Uncountable nouns

Countable and Uncountable Nouns

Countable and Uncountable Nouns

This is a pre-intermediate grammar worksheet about countable and uncountable nouns. The main focus of this worksheet is the use of the terms “many”, “much”, and “a lot of” around countable and uncountable nouns, but it also touches on “some” and “any”.

The worksheet starts with a basic explanation of countable and uncountable nouns, and then students will have to read through a list of nouns and decide together if they think they are countable or uncountable.

Next, students will read about how and when we use “some” and “any”, and then complete several sentences with what they have learned. After that students will read a conversation between two friends who are planning a party. This conversation frequently uses “many”, “much”, and “a lot of”, and after reading the conversation students must answer several comprehension questions  and discuss when “much”, “many, and “a lot of” are used.

Students will then read an explanation of “much” and “many”, complete several sentences with it, and then ask a partner several questions with “much” and “many.”

Students will then read an explanation of “a lot of”, and complete sentences using all they have learned so far. Finally, students will read a description of an area in a city, and then write a description of the area they live in using the terms and rules they have learned in the lesson.
