Pronunciation: Disappearing Syllables

This is a short intermediate pronunciation worksheet about disappearing syllables. Many common words in English are spelled with a syllable they are not pronounced with, such as vegetables (veg-tables),  comfortable (comf-table), and basically (basic-ly). This worksheet asks students to listen to audio files to discover which syllables “disappear”, and then gives them several exercises to practice the pronunciation themselves. This worksheet will work well with any intermediate class looking to make their pronunciation more natural.
