Making Appointments on the Phone
This lower intermediate PDF worksheet looks at both telephone language and appointment-making language, and will be very useful for vital skills such as spelling and confirming information.
First, that students will read a telephone conversation in which a man makes an appointment with a doctor. The class will identify useful phrases, and will then listen to three telephone conversations in which the people make appointments (an appointment to see an apartment, and appointment to see a doctor, and making a date with a friend) and answer questions about these conversations.
Finally, the students will role-play making a doctor’s appointment over the phone. Both students will receive a schedule, one for the patient and one for the doctor, and then must call and make an appointment and give the receptionist their name, email, and phone number.
This worksheet will work well with any class that needs to practice phone language and making appointments, but will also be useful for classes that need practice with spelling out names or exchanging information in general.
The transcripts for the audio can be found at the end of the teacher’s version (TV).
