Internet Slang and Adjectives

Warning ⚠️: This worksheet contains the phrase “WTF”, so if you think swear words are not appropriate for your class, do not use it.

This is an intermediate level worksheet about acronyms and slang commonly used online and in texting. 💬 Students will discuss language and the internet, then learn several useful acronyms such as “BTW”, “FYI”, and “BRB.” The class will then complete a text conversation about a party with the acronyms they have learned. 📱💬

Next, students will learn about some slang words that the internet has made popular such as “cringe”, “ghosted”, and “vibe” and then practice asking each other questions using those slang terms. 💬🤔

This worksheet also contains an optional homework exercise in which students must go to a website (the link to the website is in the worksheet) and find 3 acronyms that they find funny or useful. Then in the next class, they must explain those acronyms to the class. 🖥️📝
