Interior Design
This upper-intermediate worksheet helps students develop vocabulary and speaking skills related to interior design, furniture, and home decoration. It contains speaking, listening, and reading elements.
Students begin with discussion questions about their own tastes and experiences before matching common household items to pictures.
They then read six short texts describing different people’s interior design preferences and match key descriptive vocabulary to definitions. This is followed by a discussion activity in which students identify which room best matches each person’s style.
Next, students work in pairs to furnish a house using a floor plan, deciding where furniture should be placed and discussing any changes they would make to the layout.
The second half of the worksheet is based on a video about creating a cosy home. Before watching, students predict five tips that could make a home feel more comfortable. They then complete a vocabulary exercise using words from the video before watching again to identify and explain the eight interior design tips presented. The worksheet concludes with a discussion comparing the video’s suggestions with the students’ own ideas.
