Christmas Guess the Word!
This game is an excellent tool to get students to speak and have fun. The game is designed for advanced students because the vocabulary is very specific. The students need to pick a card and describe the word at the top without using any of the words mentioned on the card. This forces students to think of synonyms and practice different ways of describing things – vital skills for any language learner.
You can split your group into teams or let them play as a group. You can also use a timer on each round but be careful because this often stresses students. We recommend telling students they have a limited number of cards to describe each round, for example, 3 cards per person each round.
