What is Bias?

This is a high level worksheet about various types of biases that has speaking, reading, and listening elements. It will work well with any B2-C1 level class that likes interesting discussions.

The lesson starts with an introduction of the concept of bias, and asks the students some conversational questions on the subject. Next the students will read about five different types of bias, and identify five high level phrases from the text and match them to their meaning.

Next, students will read about five hypothetical situations in which a person displays a type of bias, and matches it to the type of bias descibed in the previous exercise.

After this the students will learn some useful vocabulary contained in a video called “The Confirmation Bias.”  They will then watch this video and answer some comprehension questions about it. This lesson is perfect for high level learners who like to discuss interesting subjects and are looking to expand their vocabulary.
