Basic Directions
This is an A1 worksheet about giving and understanding basic directions. Students will learn some fundamental words such as “forward”, “up”, and “left”, and then use them to write directions through a maze. After that students will verbally give directions through another maze to a partner.
After that students will look at a picture of a house and read some directions from one room to another. This section will also be useful for learning basic room names such as bedroom and hallway.
The final exercise is based on a city map. Students will read directions and say which area on the map the directions lead to. After this they will listen to an audio giving directions to different places on the map. The students must listen to each set of directions, follow them on the map, and say where the directions end up.
This worksheet should work well with any A1 class, and also contains a lot of useful basic vocabulary outside of directions.
The audio transcript can be found at the end of the Teacher’s Version (T.V).
